It’s here! CALIFORNIA GIRL, the first single off of Linda XO’s upcoming album, Donuts & Flowers, is now streaming on all platforms. Originally performed by Mike Viola and The Candy Butchers, Linda XO first heard this sunny, slightly sad song in the small East Village music clubs of New York City. After deciding to revisit this forgotten pop gem, Linda recruited longtime friend and writing partner Orion Simprini to produce California Girl in a shoegaze, indie-rock style. The result is an irresistibly catchy song that brings back the fun and innocence of the early 1990’s. Linda XO’s unmistakable vocal style, which has been compared to Debbie Harry, The Primitives and Julianna Hatfield, transports the listener to a different time and place, where the sky is always blue and the sun is always shining.
